Console SimRacers have to have patience when it comes to Assetto Corsa Competizione: The sim does not receive updates at the same time as the PC version, but PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S users can now look forward to the big v1.8 update that improved ACC in many ways on PC last year – the update is scheduled for a September 29th release.
When v1.8 first released for PC in November of 2021, SimRacers were pleasantly surprised with the big steps developer Kunos Simulazioni had made. A new tire model as well as a physics engine using a higher frequency were introduced and transformed the driving feel of the sim to another level.
Next-gen console racers had to wait until February of 2022 to get their hands on an optimized version of ACC that remedied many of the previous-gen console version’s flaws. However, more patience was needed for the big step forward that is the v1.8 update. This will now drop on September 29th.
The official announcement Tweet mentions major changes as well as extended gameplay – it should be interesting to see all the console-specific details once Kunos releases them.
