Impressive presentation has always been a strong suit of Forza Motorsport, and Microsoft and Turn 10 do not intend to change this for the eighth instalment of the series: A dev direct video gives an overview of what will be under the hood and revealed some of the content in Forza Motorsport 8 – a release date is still absent, however.
While there were no groundbreaking reveals, the dev direct video showed some of the impressive work that goes into FM8 regarding graphics, sound, and the damage model. Forza fans can look forward to ray tracing at a 4k resolution at 60 fps, an audio engine that has been developed from the ground up and context-based damage as well as progressive dirt build up which is unique to each car.
Speaking of cars: There will be over 500 vehicles in FM8 at launch – and over 100 of them will be new to Forza Motorsport. More than 800 unique upgrades will open the door to customize them to the heart’s content of players. Part of the car list has already been announced – the following vehicles are going to be in Forza Motorsport 8 to be joined by many more:

The technical improvements are highlighted at the Kyalami circuit, which joins the Forza Motorsport track roster for the first time. The South African venue has become increasingly popular in recent years, with some racing fans even calling for Formula 1 to return there after having raced at Kyalami for the last time to date in 1993. Some of the locations in Forza Motorsport 8 have been confirmed already, too – 20 are set to be included at launch:

- Maple Valley
- Silverstone Circuit
- Suzuka Circuit
These circuits will shine in the light of a dynamic time of day and weather system, which makes its debut in Forza Motorsport 8 and adds dynamic track temperatures, varying grip as races progress, and more.
The most anticipated announcement regarding the game has not been made yet, however: No precise launch date is available, and the dev direct only mentions 2023 in this regard – a hint at a delay? Previously, the release was set for “Spring 2023” – the seasonal reference is absent in the most recent update.
