Le Mans Virtual: Here’s how Twitter reacted

Big names from both motorsports and sim racing, a high-quality broadcast and the most famous 24 hours in the racing world – the finale of the Le Mans Virtual had all the ingredients to be an incredible event. Instead, technical difficulties and harsh critique marred the race – not just by participants, but sim racing fans as well, who took to Twitter to make their voices heard.

Two red flags within the first six hours due to security breaches of the servers were one thing, apparently random losses of connection for numerous cars were another – the latter also affected the car bearing the number 1, which got hit by the issues while in the overall lead. Two-time Formula 1 World Champion Max Verstappen had some harsh words for the event and rFactor 2 as a platfrom, which SRU editors Alex Goldschmidt and Yannik Haustein have analyzed in their video talk already.

As if this was not enough, the exclusivity of the event got under fire as well. Ever since the rights to the virtual 24 Hours of Le Mans are with rFactor 2, there is no possibility for anyone interested to take part anymore – unlike in the iRacing days where there were multiple splits available.

The event left a bitter taste in the mouths of most – still, positive words and jubilation regarding finishing positions could also be found. You can find more Twitter reactions below.
