After the news broke about further details on ESL R1 earlier today, the flodgates have now opened, as multiple annoumcements are flooding like wildfire onto social media regarding teams and drivers. This has really put a positive mood into the sim racing community, and looks like the excitement is truly building!

MOUZ now enter the fray for this new competition, and with the already extensive success story they have had for over two decades with over 400 titles won, it is no wonder that they have entered sim racing. This is even more the case with their CEO, Stefan Wendl, who has been racing in ADAC GT Masters and Porsche Carrera Cup for over 15 years, which shows clearly just a sign of their intent.

They are not only looking ESL R1 to be just one part of their program, as it seems that the Audi R8 LMS will be there weapon of choice, having revealed that they will be building easy access routes to sim racing via top-line simulators, not only at their headquarters in Hamburg but also at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben.

But we will not limit ourselves to just one competition,” as stated on their official website, even with ESL R1 being their initial focus.

Our ambition for the next couple of years is to challenge the best in more simulators and events and to build an authentic and successful esports program within the community. Over the next few months, we will constantly develop and strengthen our team as we can finally plan our long-term entry into sim racing.”

We’re looking forward to seeing who will actually be announced as part of their driver line-up in due course, but BS+ Compeition has already unveiled theirs, which sees Bruno Spengler as their Team Captain, along with Rainer Talvar, Nils Naujoks, Phil Denes and Ryan Barneveld completing the roster.

Along with this, the Munich-based squad will be running as a BMW factory outfit with the new livery for ESL R1 getting a lot of love on Twitter – we like it as well!

But we know for a fact that there is still some big news to come from the other big marquee names joining this competition.
