Two tracks had been announced already, but Studio 397 keeps on delivering more interesting reveals: Another famous track joins the rFactor 2 lineup in Laguna Seca, as do two cars that mark the beginning of a BTCC content pack for the 2021 and 2022 seasons.
The BTCC cars that join the sim are the Infiniti Q50 and the Toyota Corolla GR. Both touring cars lay the groundwork for more cars to come, as Studio 397 announced. It looks like the recent developments surrounding Motorsport Games, which has rF2 and Studio 397 under its roof, have led to the content of the planned but apparently canceled BTCC game finding its way over to rFactor 2.

Meanwhile, Laguna Seca breaks out of the British trend that the announcements had established thus far: The classic Californian track will be added to the sim and is a perfect fit for the Dallara IR-18, as the real-life IndyCar series has been racing at the track since returning in 2019 but has a much longer history there. Alex Zanardi’s overtake against Bryan Herta at the 1996 IndyCar season finale in The Corkscrew is legendary, for example – the Italian got by Herta on the very last lap in a spot where overtaking is almost impossible, denying him his maiden win, which he took two years later at the same track.

Before Laguna Seca and the BTCC cars, Donington Park and Brands Hatch had been announced for the content drop. It is expected to be released in May.
